John Sporing founded A Life Well Drunk to help spread the word of wine. The company offers wine education and wine tourism as its primary mission, but also offers education and experiences in spirits and beer. A Life Well Drunk offers experiences in the United States and internationally.
Wine is a rare thing . . . upon tasting, it can transport you across time and around the world. We been helping individuals and small groups experience the wonders of wine for nearly a decade. We offer a wide range of wine experiences, from fun and educational tastings at home to unique, small-group, personalized trips to the world’s best wine regions. Home tastings are both entertaining and informative, and are customized with a specific theme to match the client’s interests and budget. Wine tours are one-of-a-kind, emphasizing personal connections and providing a variety of experiences but focusing on small, undiscovered, up-and-coming wineries and winemakers.
Through John’s travels and studies, he has developed personal relationships with winemakers and winery owners around the world. He has entertained them in his home, and they have invited him into their homes. These personal relationships are the foundation for special experiences and unique tastings that go beyond the typical tasting room experience or group tour.
With the help of these friends, we’ve been able to develop 3 different types of at home tastings:

Discoveries: Wine education videos with various guests on each episode.
Private Virtual Tastings: create a custom tasting for your group!

We offer something for wine lovers of all levels. Whether you’re tasting along with us or just trying to learn more about wine, we’ve got you covered.
Wine Uncensored
Wine Uncensored is our way of bringing a winery’s tasting room to your front door. Every Thursday at 6 PM ET, we offer a free webinar with a different winery every week. A wine maker, vintner, or owner will join John Sporing each week to walk through 3 or 4 of their wines. You can purchase the wines in advance, have them delivered to your front door, and sip along with us. It’s that easy!

Meet who makes it happen!
John Sporing
President & Founder
Building on his passion for wine, travel and teaching, John founded A Life Well Drunk. He regularly hosts wine tours around the world.
Recently, these tours have included South Africa, Portugal, as well as domestic destinations (California and Oregon).
John is a Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW), WSET Advanced certified, and a Certified Sherry Wine Specialist.
Julie Culler
PR & Media
Julie is a recent college graduate from the University of Illinois, where she majored in Communication and minored in Psychology and Public Relations. Introduced to the wine industry at a young age from her father, she was excited to join the ALWD team in March 2020. If you want to talk social media, writing, or anything PR – she’s your girl!
Neil Reid
The Beer Professor
The Beer Professor, aka Neil Reid, is Professor of Geography and Planning at The University of Toledo. He studies, writes, and lectures about the beer industry. He has presented lectures on the beer industry to international audiences in Austria, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Sweden, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Taiwan, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Neil grew up in the small village of Tarbet in the Scottish Highlands.
