Meet the Maker
Giacomo was born in Florence in 1977. After studying languages, he cultivated an interest in the world of wine as a personal hobby. This was to become his profession when he started at Uggiano in 2001. Ever since, his passion and experience have grown.
Giacomo will always remember his first meeting with Dr. Giuseppe Losapio – the founder of Azienda Uggiano – in 2001. Dr. Losapio was looking for an export manager able to help him with sales (he was both an enologist and salesman at the time) and Giacomo immediately accepted the offer. The idea of travelling all around the world selling (and talking about) wine was a great one. After 15 years of working with Dr. Losapio, Gaicomo and his current partners, Fabio and Daniele, were asked to take over the company since he wanted to retire and leave the winery in good hands. This was a once in a lifetime occasion… and here we are!
As new management, the first important investment was to buy a 40ha estate in Maremma (southern Tuscany) in order to strengthen and diversify the production of premium Tuscan wines and the first bottles coming from the new estate are just released.
He loves travelling, PR, and is passionate about wine. He finds it is always exciting for when he has the chance to meet new people all around the world and talk about his wines. Giacomo thinks it is important to transmit his passion to the people and this is what he always tries to do.
