Project Description

Alejandro Garrido, the Commercial & Marketing Manager for Bodegas Tagua Tagua in Chile joined John Sporing, founder of A Life Well Drunk, for a WineUncensored virtual tasting on January 28, 2021.

Did you miss the live tasting? No worries, watch it here:

In our conversation with Alejandro, we were guided through three Chilean wines:

Seleccion Carménère (Best Buy Wine & Spirits, Wine Enthusiast, and Washington Post)

Gran Reserva Carménère (91 James Suckling)

Family Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (92 James Suckling).

About the winery

Bodegas Tagua Tagua represents the spirit of their family and tradition of the Chilean wine industry from the start. The perseverance of the people, who have managed to overcome the crazy geography, and the fierceness of climatic events have allowed them to achieve a product of global excellence. The wines are the result of this adventure and reflect a family tradition through five generations.

The mission of Bodegas Tagua Tagua is that they fulfill a sustainability role in social terms with the families of the company’s workers and their community; plus a strong preservation of everything related to the natural and wild environment, through the use of agricultural practices and winemaking that go in harmony with the natural life.

Among the wines we will be tasting and discussing are two Carménère wines – considered to be part of the original six red grapes of Bordeaux, but now known as the grape of Chile.
