Meet the Maker

Jones von Drehle Vineyards and Winery is family owned and operated in the small town of Thurmond, North Carolina. Chuck and Diana Jones and Ronnie and Raymond von Drehle are in-laws that had a mission to start a fine wine vineyard and winery in their home state of North Carolina. Their journey began in 2007 when they found the perfect land under the Blue Ridge Mountain skies.

They are an Estate Winery, producing wines solely from the thirty acres of vines grown on property. Carefully selected varieties were planted, each in an area of the vineyard we believe provides the best location to produce the highest quality of fruit. Great wine begins in the vineyard.

Looking for dry, European-styled wine in North Carolina? You’ve found the right place.

Dan was raised in Oregon before starting his winemaking career in California; He has over 30 years in the wine industry. He has a broad background in cellar, laboratory and winery operation. Since starting out at Simi, Dan has worked at California wineries such as Grand Cru, Laurier, Matanzas Creek, Clos du Bois with internships at Preston,  Schramsberg and Williams Selyem. He moved east in 2001 to take the winemaking responsibilities for Chateau Morrisette in Floyd, VA.  Dan holds BS in fermentation science from UC Davis. He currently is the winemaker for Jones von Drehle Vineyards in Thurmond, NC.

Chloe is the rock-star here at Jones von Drehle. She is the star of the show and loves her spot as the Tasting Room greeter. If she isn’t at the winery, she is out making deliveries with her dad Chuck. Chloe is patiently awaiting to meet you.
