Meet the Maker
Rick Fisher lives and breathes Spain. Part Catalan, Rick’s passion for his Spanish heritage and a desire to educate others about Spanish culture, food, and wine led him to create the blog Bodega: Eat. Drink. Explore. ESPAÑA! in 2009, with an aim to further educate readers about the amazing wines and food of Spain. He has also been a contributor to the Spanish and Portuguese wine site, CataVino, Glass of Bubbly, and The SOMM Journal.
Rick had enjoyed a more than 20-year career in finance where he found himself drawn to pursuing more credentials within the wine industry. As a result of his passion for Spain and the wine business, he left his finance job in 2018 to devote himself to the creation of the Wine Scholar Guild’s Spanish Wine Scholar™ study and certification program. The program, which has been officially endorsed by Wines from Spain, is currently taught at wine schools around the world as well as online through the Wine Scholar Guild.
